A levels (2009): Chemistry (A), Physics (B) and Maths (B)
Undergraduate degree (2013). MChem (1st)
PhD (2017). PassAfter completing my GCSEs I didn’t know what I wanted to do as a career. Advise from my parents was to study subjects I’m interested in so I chose chemistry, physics and maths. These subjects complimented one another very well – maths is essential for any science degree.
After completing my A levels I was lucky enough to get a place at University of Sheffield

I’m Nick, a 29 yr old scientist working at Syngenta (an agrochemical company near Wokingham). I have recently moved house from Sheffield, where I spent 10 years at University studying chemistry. In my spare time I enjoy dog walking, camping, hiking and love sports (especially football and cricket) and am a Norwich City season ticket holder.

I work as a chemist, specifically focused on making and using polymers for improving product performance

My Typical Day:
I wake up ; start the day with an exciting breakfast. After travelling to work (unless I’m ‘WFH’) I make a hot drink and begin looking at my calendar for the day. It usually consists of team meetings, conducting experiments and talking to work mates.

Typical day involves lots of experimental planning, conducting experiments and analysing results. There is fair whack of project meetings and presentations to prepare for but it is all great fun!
